transplant.

Running on Recycled Parts
In the months after getting a new liver, most transplant patients return
to work, enjoy time with their families, and go back to hobbies they love.
Mike Barker took it a step farther — actually, 13.1 kilometers farther.
Just seven months after his liver transplant, Mike crossed the finish
line of the 2019 Cowtown Half Marathon wearing his signature “Running
on Recycled Parts: Transplant Recipient” T-shirt.

Expanding to meet the needs of our community
Methodist Dallas Medical Center created the Sammons Enterprises Geriatric
Trauma Unit with special features tailored specifically to patients 65
years and older. Methodist Digestive Institute has expanded with the John
R. Ford Family GI Laboratory and Advanced Endoscopy Center to bring advanced
imaging and endoscopic equipment for diagnosing and treating GI conditions
and cancers.

A voice for sexual assault victims
Janaki Subramanian, RN, CA-SANE, oversees the only Sexual Assault Nurse
Examiner (SANE) program in Oak Cliff and southern Dallas. Read the
March 2020 D Magazine article about Janaki and the life-altering SANE program at Methodist Dallas
Medical Center.

Breast Health Outreach Services
The Women’s Imaging Center at Methodist Dallas and Methodist Charlton
Medical Centers have made it possible for Dallas-area women to easily
access breast cancer screenings, diagnostics, and education through the
mobile mammography unit. Philanthropic dollars enable Methodist Health
System to provide free screenings and diagnostic services for uninsured
and underinsured women in Dallas and beyond.
