DAISY Award for Nurses
Extraordinary Nursing Recognition at Methodist Health System
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the compassionate care and extraordinary clinical skill given by nurses every day. The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this national award to say thank you to nurses everywhere.
The hospitals of Methodist Health System are proud to be DAISY Award Hospital Partners, recognizing one nurse with this special honor each month.
Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a ceremony and will receive a beautiful certificate, DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer's Touch. Additionally, staff in the unit will celebrate with Cinnabon® cinnamon rolls – a favorite of Patrick's during his illness.
