Why Volunteer?
Cheers to volunteers!
Did you know that helping other people could improve your own health?
According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, research shows that people who volunteer tend to live longer, have less depression, and have lower risk for heart disease. And research suggests that volunteering is particularly beneficial to the physical and mental health of older adults.
A Duke University study showed that after having a heart attack, people who volunteered felt less despair and depression than those who didn't volunteer.
Volunteering can help you:
- Meet new people
- Stay active
- Learn new skills
- Give back to the community
- Feel better about yourself
- Fight boredom
- Begin a new chapter in your life
