Gastroenterology Fellowship in Dallas
Methodist Health System’s Fellowship Programs
The Methodist Dallas Gastroenterology (GI) Fellowship program started in
December 2012. We currently accept two fellows a year through the Match,
with a total complement of 6 fellows. Our fellows join us from across
the country with diverse research and clinical interests.
About the Gastroenterology Fellowship
Our fellowship training program is designed to form strong foundations in the evaluation and management of gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases. Toward that end, rotations are structured to promote learning about the pathophysiology, histology, endoscopy, and radiography needed to provide excellent patient care. Fellows have ample opportunities to gain experience in both general and advanced endoscopy during their 3 years of training.
In addition to our regular curriculum, regional didactic and live endoscopy courses are frequently held at Methodist Dallas. Our key clinical faculty members are local and national experts in their fields and actively participate in numerous investigator-initiated and sponsored single center and multi-center research projects.

About Methodist Health System
More than 5,500 interventional procedures are performed in the
John R. Ford Center for Digestive Diseases GI Lab, which operates three general rooms and two dedicated interventional rooms.
The GI Lab uses new Pentax endoscopes, dedicated fluoroscopy machines,
and the latest in ERCP and EUS technologies. We provide a wide range of
services ranging from diagnostic endoscopy to advanced procedures such
as ERCP with cholangioscopy, EUS-guided cystgastrostomy, and per-oral
endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for achalasia. The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition
Program for quality in endoscopy recognized the Methodist Dallas GI Lab in 2010.
