Would you like to learn how to manage your diabetes better, and as a result have more energy? Feel better? Prevent or delay problems like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, nerve damage, amputations, erectile dysfunction, and blindness?

When you have diabetes your health care team is very important; however, most of the time you will be responsible for your own care.

  1. Call (214) 947-6700 to make an appointment with a primary care physician who can manage all of your health, including diabetes.
  2. Call (214) 947-6762 to make an appointment with the RN Health Educator, whose services are FREE to all Golden Cross Clinic patients. She can help you discover information about what affects your diabetes and what steps you can do to better manage it.
  3. Attend a FREE Diabetes Class, which is scheduled for the last Wednesday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00 pm in Room 202 at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. The class is open to the public and includes a free catered lunch. The class covers information such as:
    • The ABC’s of diabetes
    • Healthy diets, carb counting, and foods that affect your blood sugar
    • Wound prevention and care
    • Ways to stay active
    • Long term problems when you have unmanaged diabetes and how you can prevent them
    • Your emotional health and stress management

Professional services at the Golden Cross Academic Clinic will be provided by medical residents supervised by physicians on the medical staff at Methodist Health System or by such physicians directly. Texas law prohibits hospitals from practicing medicine. The physicians on the Methodist Health System medical staff are independent practitioners who are not employees or agents of Methodist Health System.
