Bravo pH Monitoring System

Bravo pH Monitoring System to Diagnose
Acid Reflux and GERD

Bravo pH Monitoring System technology is revolutionizing the standards for investigating acid reflux and GERD. While traditional pH testing calls for a long, flexible tube inserted through the nose into the esophagus and worn for a full day and night, the Bravo system uses a small capsule implanted in the esophagus. The capsule transmits information to a pager-sized receiver worn on the waist. After 48 hours, the information from the receiver is transmitted to a computer and analyzed by a physician. The capsule detaches from the esophagus on its own and passes through the digestive system.

Bravo pH monitoring shows when and how much acid is refluxing from the stomach up into the esophagus. It may be recommended for people with reflux symptoms but no signs of damage to the esophagus. It can also show whether respiratory symptoms, such as wheezing and coughing, are due to acid reflux.
