Methodist Charlton Women's Imaging Receives Generous Check from Think PINK! Event

groupWomen’s Imaging at Methodist Charlton Medical Center recently received a generous check for over $8,000 from breast cancer survivor Sheri Mathis and her annual Shop, Eat Drink PINK! event in the Bishop Arts District. Mathis created the event to raise money and awareness of the importance of early detection. A survivor of two breast cancer diagnoses, Mathis considers herself one of the lucky ones because her cancer was detected early via an annual mammogram. Very grateful, Mathis is now driven to help others and create more survivors. “Early detection is key to a great future,” she says. Mathis credits the merchants and restaurants in Bishop Arts and beyond, the wonderful volunteers, and generous sponsors for the success of Shop, Eat, Drink PINK! which almost doubled proceeds from the previous year. Methodist Charlton was one of the sponsors of the event.

“We are indebted to Sheri for her continued support,” mammography team leader Jana Munoz says. “Because of her fundraising events, Methodist Charlton has been able to provide breast health services to many women who otherwise would not have been able to afford them. We also thank the merchants of Bishop Arts as well as other contributors for their tremendous support of the Shop, Eat, Drink, PINK! event which kicked off in the Bishop Arts District last October.”

The donated funds will be used to help provide mammograms for uninsured patients and support the Nurse Navigator program at Methodist Charlton.
