MedHealth begins operating under the name "Methodist Medical Group"
The Methodist Health System affiliate that operates as the employed physician group in the Methodist family, has begun operating under the name Methodist Medical Group. The new operational name highlights MedHealth’s affiliation with Methodist Health System and also reflects the group’s transformation into a larger multi-specialty medical group.
“Over the past four years, our group has achieved tremendous growth, doubling in number of facilities,” George Williams, MD, President of Methodist Medical Group said. “In many ways, the group’s legal name failed to fully convey the evolution of the new multi-specialty group.”
Dr. Williams said patient communication was the most notable reason for the name change. “The new operational name clearly communicates our affiliation with Methodist Health System, and helps capture concepts such as clinical integration and continuum of care as meaningful and measurable realities.”
Methodist Medical Group will continue to manage the business of MedHealth’s 25 primary care facilities, Methodist Family Health Centers, as well as 15 specialty groups and two charity-care locations.
Aside from the change in operational name, nothing about the physician group has changed. Methodist Medical Group will continue to be an organization dedicated to supporting the mission of Methodist Health system by serving patients in the six counties of North Texas that make up their service area.
