A vision of healing: Methodist Richardson Cancer Center artwork conveys powerful message

Richardson – When you are faced with the diagnosis of cancer, you must look deep within to find courage and strength.
It’s also when you see that you are surrounded by love and support. The journey for each is as different and unique as the human eye. This was the inspiration for a project called “Vision of Healing” all hand painted by Methodist Richardson Cancer Center patients and caregivers.

Our vision was made possible by the Artist in Residence program, which is supported by the Methodist Richardson Foundation. It is led by artist Katherine Baronet who offers various creative projects to patients to help pass the time while they undergo treatment and take their mind off the gravity of why they are there.

“We often see patients who take part in art therapy need less pain and anxiety medication because they are more relaxed and focusing on something creative,” says Alan Trumbly, DO, medical oncologist on staff at Methodist Richardson Cancer Center.

“Vision of Healing” is a collection of 60 special and unique 6 by 6 inch canvasses, each of an eye. The artwork will be on display during the month of June in the Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery in the Charles W. Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive, Richardson, TX 75082.

We hope you’ll join us for a reception honoring the artists, June 1 from 6:00pm-7:30pm on the second floor mezzanine at the Eisemann Center.

Come and share this very powerful message that is our vision of healing.
