Methodist Richardson Medical Center begins $85 million expansion

Expansion will add an operating room, two patient floors, and a parking garage in 2018

Richardson – Years ahead of schedule, and due to increased volume for specialized and acute care services, Methodist Richardson Medical Center is adding two patient floors with 150 all-private patient rooms, as well as a surgical operating room, and a 500-space parking garage. The hospital primarily serves the communities of Richardson, Garland, Plano, Wylie, Sachse, and Murphy, but in the last year, Methodist Richardson has become a destination facility with patients traveling for treatment from 45 Texas counties and 5 nearby states.

The 191-bed acute care hospital opened at President George Bush Turnpike and Renner Road in Richardson in April 2014. “We are more than seven years ahead of our projected growth schedule,” says Methodist Richardson President Ken Hutchenrider, Jr, FACHE. “We are expanding to better serve our communities that have experienced tremendous population growth, and we are thrilled to be their trusted healthcare provider.”

Construction on a third cardiac catheterization lab is currently underway and will be completed in early fall. Around the same time, construction will begin on the new parking garage, followed by building out the two additional floors in early 2018.
