Methodist Dallas Awarded Three Pancreas Care Certifications
Only Hospital in the US to Receive Pancreatic Surgery and Pancreatitis Disease-Specific Care Certification
Dallas-- Methodist Dallas Medical Center is pleased to announce it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Disease-Specific Certification in three categories – pancreatitis, pancreatic surgery, and pancreatic cancer. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
"Methodist Dallas has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients with pancreas disease,” said Patrick Phelan, executive director, Hospital Business Development, The Joint Commission. “We commend Methodist Dallas for being a leader in pancreas care, potentially providing a higher standard of service for patients suffering from pancreas disease in its community.”
Methodist Dallas underwent a rigorous on-site review on November 13-15. Awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the continuum of care and addresses three core areas:
- Compliance with consensus-based national standards
- Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care
- An organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities
Having first achieved certification for pancreatic cancer and surgery in 2014, Methodist Dallas still remains the only hospital in the country to hold Disease-Specific Care Certification for pancreatic surgery from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation. Additionally, Methodist Dallas still remains the only hospital in the nation to hold Disease-Specific Care Certification for pancreatitis, having first achieved this certification in 2016.
“There is a reason so many patients trust us with their pancreatic care,” says John Phillips, FACHE, President of Methodist Dallas Medical Center. “It is always an honor to have the quality care provided by our physicians, nurses and staff reinforced by The Joint Commission.”
