COVID-19:
Protecting our patients and visitors

Visitor policy

The safety of our patients, staff, and visitors remains as one of the highest priorities for Methodist Health System. In line with that priority, we continue to carefully monitor the status of the pandemic, patient volumes, and personal protective equipment supplies while fulfilling our mission To Improve and Save Lives Through Compassionate Quality Health Care. It is in this context that we recognize a critical aspect of healing revolves around the assistance a patient’s personal family member or friend can have on the patient’s treatment outcome, and this visitation policy is designed with this principle in mind.

Patients not being treated for COVID-19 or suspected of having COVID-19 are allowed two visitors per day. Visiting hours are as follows:

  • Methodist Dallas Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Charlton Medical Center: 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Mansfield Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Midlothian Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Richardson Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Visitors must meet the following guidelines:

  • Visitors must be over the age of 18.
  • Visitors must be considered essential to the patient's care, health, and well-being.
  • Visitors will undergo a temperature check and undergo a brief screening at the hospital entrance.
  • Visitors will wear the armband given to them once they pass the screening.
  • Visitors must wear a mask at all times and practice appropriate social distancing to the maximum extent possible at all times while inside the facility.

Family and friends of patients being treated for COVID-19 or undergoing testing for COVID-19 will be asked to defer in-person visitation in favor of alternative methods for patient and visitor interactions, such as video-call applications on cell phones or tablets. Exceptions will be made for patients receiving end-of-life care.
