Methodist’s Commitment to Graduate Medical Education
A medical residency program is the next step in your medical education following your graduation and internship. During a residency, you receive on-hands experience practicing medicine under the supervision of a more seasoned professional. It is, in essence, your chance to begin your medical career in earnest while receiving detailed instruction to help you avoid common mistakes and learn new skills. Following residency, many physicians enroll in a fellowship program.
Methodist offers four residency education programs:
At Methodist Dallas Medical Center
- General Surgery (both categorical and preliminary)
- Internal Medicine (13-13-13)
- Obstetrics-Gynecology (3-3-3-3)
At Methodist Charlton Medical Center
- Family Medicine (6-6-6)
