Welcome to the Methodist Health System Internal Medicine Residency website. Thank you for your interest in our program!
The goal of our program is simple – to train empathetic and skilled Internal Medicine physicians who have the skillset to treat even the most complex of patients. We begin with a curriculum that has been carefully curated by faculty to ensure our residents are taught the latest evidenced-based medicine and practice guidelines. Residents are also taught technical skills in our new multimillion-dollar simulation lab. As no amount of lectures can teach management of a patient, our program strikes the delicate balance between autonomy and guided learning.
Another central tenet of our program is individualized learning. Residents meet one-on-one with faculty mentors to discuss career and fellowship goals early on. From there, rotations are structured to help residents succeed in meeting this goal. We also support our residents in deploying clinical research and submitting publications by utilizing the services of the Methodist Clinical Research Institute. The program also purchases board preparation materials necessary for residents to succeed including MKSAP, MedStudy, ACP Video Board Review, a yearly question bank allowance, and an all-expense paid review course in the final year of training.
Most importantly, our program has a strongly supportive atmosphere to help our residents succeed. We have regularly scheduled resident retreats and provide lunch daily at noon conferences giving residents the opportunity to relax and spend time with faculty members while also learning.
Residency is challenging but when surrounded by like-minded individuals and supportive faculty members, it can be a wonderful time. We passionately believe that our program will help you achieve your goals in medicine. We thank you for your interest and we wish you the best of luck in this exciting phase of your career! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
