Back in the swing of things after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery at Methodist Charlton
We gave Coach new knees and lowered his handicap. Watch his story.
When old knee injuries began threatening Bob's golf game, the retired football coach teamed up with Methodist Health System to devise an offensive strategy.
Coach first attended the Methodist Joint Academy, where the game plan was to mentally and physically prepare him for the best possible results and a faster return to the links. He then underwent minimally invasive joint replacement procedures on both knees at Methodist. Immediately following surgery he was back on his feet, and after minor rehabilitation, Coach's life has been all fairways and greens.

Longtime DeSoto High School football coach and teacher Robert "Bob" Malloy says his quality of life is totally different after his knee replacement surgery at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.
"I injured my right knee back in college and had become so restricted in my activities," Malloy says. "I love to do yard work and play golf, and I knew something had to be done."

After Malloy decided to have knee replacement surgery, his surgeon, Clinton Bell, MD, an independently practicing orthopedic surgeon on the medical staff at Methodist Charlton, recommended he attend Methodist Joint Academy to help him prepare for surgery.
"The Joint Academy was a really, really very good seminar and very informative," Malloy says.
Malloy says the instructor showed him where to go the day of surgery. "Everything was all so organized," he says. "The instructor even dropped by after the surgery to check on me."
Malloy says that he knows about rehab from being involved in sports, and everything he was told at the academy was "right on."
Back to life
An avid golfer, Malloy recently played in a golf tournament. "It's
amazing how much better I feel," he says. "I can't thank Methodist
Charlton enough, and my surgeon, Dr. Bell, did a great job."
He says that everyone, including nurses and physical therapists, were phenomenal. "I've never been in such a professional environment in a hospital," he says.
In fact, Malloy is planning on having surgery on his left knee next.
"Methodist Charlton is at the top of my list," he says. "I would definitely recommend it."
