Popular Dallas Singer Leaves Hospital after Double Transplant at Methodist Dallas

DALLAS – Singer Amy Brown, one half of the popular duo Domino Effect, recently went home after a successful kidney/pancreas transplant. Diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of five, Brown subsequently suffered Stage 5 renal failure. Brown, along with many of her family members, was born at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and grew up in Dallas/Oak Cliff and DeSoto Texas. Regarding organ donation, she says, "For those who can donate, I can't think of a better gift to give in life other than the gift of life."

In Texas, more than 10,000 people are on the Transplant Waiting List. More than 50 people can be helped by one organ and tissue donor. Brown's story was covered by several local Dallas TV stations, during which Brown sang, "Amazing Grace." One of her surgeons, Dr. Richard Dickerman, a physician on the medical staff at Methodist Health System, stopped by during the TV filming to say goodbye to Ms. Brown as she was released from the hospital and wish her well.
