The little things make a difference when having your baby at Methodist Charlton
A previous miscarriage had left Pricilla
Sanchez-Bazaldua heartbroken and confused. But
with support from Methodist Charlton she’s now
the proud parent of two healthy boys, Sebastian
(shown here) and Stephen.
Pricilla Sanchez-Bazaldua’s story of motherhood starts sadly — with a miscarriage four years ago.
“It’s a very tough time for any family to go through, and I just wanted to know if I had done something wrong,” she says. “I had a billion questions, but every time I called my physician, the voice mail would go unanswered.”
The Bazalduas wanted a happier ending for their story, however, and turned to Jorge Saldivar, MD, OB-GYN on the medical staff at Methodist Charlton Medical Center.
“My husband and I fell in love with Dr. Saldivar and his team before our first visit was even over,” Sanchez-Bazaldua says. “He gave me time to ask questions, and he made us actually laugh again.”
Dr. Saldivar let her know that she was perfectly healthy and that she was in the right place.
“We love what we do here at Methodist Charlton,” he says. “We try to make sure our patients become part of the family. We care about them as if they were our own.”
A second — and third — chance at motherhood
Pricilla Sanchez-Bazaldua gave birth to two
healthy boys — and we’re glad we could help!
In a little less than a year, baby Sebastian was on the way. Methodist Charlton and Dr. Saldivar’s team were there for every step, making the pregnancy one of joy and not worry.
Then when the Bazalduas were expecting again 2½ years later, they felt more than comfortable taking the journey with the same team, even under different circumstances.
“With Sebastian, I was able to have a natural delivery, but with our second baby, Stephen, he was breech, and a C-section was our only option,” Sanchez-Bazaldua says.
“When they delivered Stephen, I could hear him make his first cry, and my husband went to hold him for the first time. I was so happy I started crying, and the anesthesiologist came over and wiped my tears away. I’ll never forget it.”
Coming back around
Now with two beautiful, healthy boys at home, Sanchez-Bazaldua is grateful for the team that helped bring her family to this place.
“It’s the little things in life that add up,” she says. “A joke, a hug, even just a little reassurance — it all makes the difference. I’m forever grateful for the people that listened to me and cared about my story to let me start again.”
