PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency

Thank you for your interest in the PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency program at Methodist Dallas Medical Center (MDMC).

As a Health-System Pharmacy Administration resident at MDMC, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with many different professionals, lead process improvement projects, provide patient care through staffing, and develop advanced leadership skills. The longitudinal structure of the program will develop competence in high level managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities. The purpose of our program is to build upon Doctor of Pharmacy and PGY1 education and training to prepare pharmacists for management roles in a variety of health-system work settings.

  • Design, implement, and manage a safe and effective medication use system
  • Apply contemporary quality methodology to the management of pharmacy services
  • Lead and manage the health system pharmacy’s human resources
  • Manage the health system pharmacy financial performance with the context of the broader health system
  • Leverage technology and automated systems to optimize the medication-use system
  • Demonstrate personal leadership qualities and business acumen essential to operate effectively within the health system and advance the profession of practice of pharmacy

The PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency is a 12-month program. The resident will work with multiple preceptors to gain experience and achieve competency in the following areas:

  • Hospital/Health System Administration

Projects
  • Short term projects pertinent to specific rotations will be completed throughout the residency
  • A longitudinal project will be designed and implemented over the course of the residency year

Application Process

In order to be considered for the residency program at Methodist, you must complete each of the following steps: 


Requirements for Acceptance

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy 
  • Graduation from an ASHP accredited PGY1 program or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Texas licensure within the first month of employment
  • Eligibility for employment by Methodist Health System
  • Participation in residency matching program
  • On-site interview
