Growing with the Community
The Need to Grow with the Community
The City of Mansfield – By the Numbers:
- Ranked 24th on Money magazine’s 2009 Top 100 Best Places to Live in America,
- Has more than doubled in population since the 2000 census to 58,069 people in 2009
- Forecast to exceed 76,602 people by 2015
The appeal of Mansfield and the surrounding communities for raising families is evidenced by the changes in Methodist Mansfield’s OB/GYN and Labor and Delivery services volume.
In the four years since the hospital’s opening, the number of medical staff has grown from nine to 21 obstetricians. The seven LDR suites, designed to accommodate approximately 1,200 deliveries per year, are already reaching near capacity with the birth of 910 babies last year. The number of deliveries is expected to increase beyond capacity to almost 2,000 over the next 12 months.
Comprehensive care close to home
Comprehensive care close to home is deeply meaningful in Mansfield and
the surrounding communities. Before Methodist Mansfield Medical Center
opened in 2006, giving birth at the
nearest full-service labor and delivery hospital meant a long drive to
Fort Worth, Arlington, or Dallas and higher incidents of delayed care
that put mothers and infants at greater risk.
