Funding Priorities

Donations to Richardson Medical Center Foundation

The Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation works with organizations, corporations, private foundations, and individuals who want to support close-to-home, advanced care and services for the communities in Collin and Dallas Counties.

Center for Surgery and Digestive Diseases

Methodist Richardson Medical Center is leading efforts to develop a comprehensive, patient-centered facility for diagnosis and management of hepatobiliary (HPB) cancers and other digestive disorders. A first for North Texas, this center will bring together world renowned surgeons, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, radiologists, oncologists, a team of specialized nurses, and other healthcare providers dedicated to the long-term care of patients with digestive disorders.

Areas of Greatest Need

One of the most valuable ways to give to Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation is to donate to the “area of greatest need.” This allows the Foundation and the hospital to work together to identify areas of need that are not necessarily being addressed with other campaign efforts. These needs might include new equipment, expansion of services to a particular segment of the population, or investment in technology that is not otherwise being funded.

Artist-in-Residence Program

The Artist-in-Residence program began in the Cancer Center in June 2012. The program aims to help patients, their families, and caregivers discover their own creative resources as antidotes to the fear, isolation, and boredom that often accompany a cancer diagnosis. The Artist-in-Residence Program is fully funded by the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation.

Massage Therapy at the Cancer Center

Massage Therapy is provided for patients currently under treatment, and it is also available for their families and caregivers. Benefits of massage include releasing muscle tension, promoting relaxation, helping to alleviate pain, and promoting rest and sleep. The Massage Therapy Program is fully funded by the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation.

Patient Care

By giving to this fund, you will support patient care programs and other activities at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, all of which contribute to the hospital’s mission in delivering compassionate, quality healthcare.

Capital Equipment

The Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation raises funds for the latest in medical technology and equipment to support excellence in patient care at Methodist Richardson.

What we have Funded

Since it was established in 1977, the Foundation has raised more than $25 million to assist in funding cutting-edge medical equipment that support the Medical Center and Cancer Center. The following are some of our funding highlights.

  • MRI-Compatible Anesthesia Machine – Used to sedate patients who are uncomfortable in small spaces during MRI procedures.
  • Nanoknife® System – Provides a minimally invasive option for patients with inoperable or difficult-to-reach tumors, including tumors located near critical structures and major blood vessels in the body.
  • 3D Mammography Machine – Provides more thorough, easier-to-read mammograms for women with dense breast tissue.
  • UVDI Disinfecting Light – Kills harmful bacteria that remain on high-touch surfaces and resist traditional cleaning methods.
  • L-Dex Machine – Monitors women for sighs of lymphedema after breast surgery.
  • Savi Scout® Surgical Guidance System – Uses real-time guidance technology to help surgeons locate and remove target tissue during surgeries, such as lumpectomies.
  • Videofluoroscopy Chair – Designed specifically for safe handling of stroke patients during diagnostic imaging procedures to evaluate swallow functions.
  • Staxi® Medical Chair – Easier to push ergonomically; easier to get patients in and out of chair, which has viewer moving parts than conventional wheelchairs.
