Helping People Manage and Monitor the Effects of Anticoagulant Medication

At Methodist Richardson, we provide an Anticoagulation Clinic to help people manage and monitor the effects of anticoagulant medications. Anticoagulation is a term that describes the process of reducing clots from forming in the blood. A medication called warfarin (Coumadin) thins your blood and reduces the risk of clot formation. It is often used as part of a treatment regimen for conditions such as:

• Atrial fibrillation
• Stroke
• Heart attack
• Peripheral vascular disease
• Heart failure
• Heart valve replacement

The Anticoagulation Clinic at Methodist Richardson employs specialty trained pharmacists who work with your physician to monitor your INR (International Normalized Ratio). The INR measures how fast your blood forms a clot, which is a measure of how much warfarin is in your body.

We must have a signed agreement with your doctor before we are allowed to manage your therapy. Please ask your physician to contact our clinic.
