Richardson Imaging Services
Advanced Imaging & Radiology Services
Detecting an internal health condition doesn’t have to require invasive surgery or biopsies anymore. Thanks to the advanced imaging and radiology equipment available at Methodist Richardson Medical Center, our technicians can find the source of injury or disease, which helps your healthcare team plan a more direct treatment plan.
Even the best doctors need high-tech instruments to get a closer look inside the body. Our Imaging & Radiology department has the tools and technology needed to detect conditions that are hard to see, and our experienced, skilled staff has advanced training to spot indicators of health problems where they occur.

We offer a broad range of imaging procedures, including:
Bone Density Test
These tests look for bone composition and structure, testing for weaknesses that could lead to problems like mineral content deficiencies, fractures, and osteoporosis. Bone density tests are quick and painless, and they allow physicians to plan for bone treatments and possible prescriptions for medications.
X-ray
This procedure is the oldest form of imaging in medicine. X-rays give your physician a broad overview of where your pain lies by passing radiation through your body and returning your denser tissue onto a film.
Computed Tomography (CT) Scan
By using dyes that flow through your body, a CT scan can get a closer look at how your body is functioning. These scans produce detailed images ranging in size from the entire body down to a section of the brain.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Not all imaging equipment uses radiation. Because an MRI uses a magnetic field to develop its images, it is generally the preferred method for gathering information about more sensitive organs.
Brain and Nervous System Imaging
Myelography and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound are the two imaging processes used to view the brain and nervous system. Myelography photographs dye as it moves within the spinal canal, while TCD measures how blood flows within the brain’s major arteries.
Cardiovascular Imaging
As heart disease is the number one killer in the U.S., we offer several imaging services that help you and your doctor know more about your cardiovascular health. The services used include Angiography, Digital CV imaging (which uses less radiation), Doppler ultrasound, and Echocardiogram.
Digestive Imaging
Nuclear Medicine
In nuclear medicine, trace amounts of a safe nuclear tracer are inserted into the body. Our specialized camera uses the gamma radiation emitted by this tracer to create images of specific parts of the body. These tests are often used to provide information about how well organs are functioning.
Pelvic Ultrasound
The most well-known use of the pelvic ultrasound is for detecting a pregnancy. However, this imaging process is also used to safely and delicately examine the organs near the pelvis.
Ultrasound
Bronchoscopy
When there are complications in the airways or the lungs, a bronchoscope can be used to detect them. This device is a long, thin camera with a light that can get a close look at your respiratory system.
Rapid CT Scanner
These scans are used in emergency situations. They can complete a full-body scan in under a minute.
Women's Imaging
In order to prevent cancer and other chronic diseases, imaging services for women include mammography, pelvic ultrasounds, and breast cancer screenings. These can be ordered by your physician, and are effective in preventing diseases that aren’t immediately apparent.
