Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy & Advanced Wound Treatments

Treatment for non-healing wounds, burns, pressure ulcers and more at the Wound Care and Hyberbaric Centers at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and Methodist Charlton Medical Center.Complicated or severe wounds call for highly specialized care. To make sure our services reflect up-to-date research and technology, the staff at the Methodist Wound Care and Hyperbaric Centers attends special education programs. Our facility is also equipped with some of the most advanced wound care equipment available.

Specially trained wound care doctors

The independently practicing wound care doctors on staff at Methodist Health System include certified specialists in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. We also enlist the expertise of independently practicing vascular, plastic, orthopedic, and podiatric surgeons.

Specialized wound care nursing

Nurses at the Methodist Wound Care and Hyperbaric Centers have received specialized training and are experts in hyperbaric medicine and wound care.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

This emerging technology uses a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to speed wound healing. The chamber contains concentrated, specially pressurized oxygen. Lying in this chamber, breathing normally increases the concentration of oxygen in the blood. This makes more oxygen available to damaged body tissues, which helps the tissues repair themselves.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be used for the treatment of difficult medical problems such as:

  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Radiation injury
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
  • Acute traumatic peripheral ischemia
  • Necrotizing soft tissue infections
  • Gas gangrene
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning
  • Crush injuries
  • Actinomycosis
  • Severe anemia
  • Decompression sickness
  • Chronic problem wounds, including diabetic foot wounds and diabetic foot ulcers of the lower extremities

The Wound Center was recognized for exceeding national quality standards with a 97.5% patient satisfaction rate and a 98% wound healing rate. Out of nearly 800 Healogics Wound Care Centers®, only the top 14% receive this prestigious honor.
