Dallas Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at Methodist Charlton Medical Center

Education, encouragement and support help ensure the most complete recovery possible from heart problems. The heart rehabilitation program at Methodist Charlton’s Fitness Center & Fit Zone has been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) for our ability to help people regain—and maintain—their heart health after a cardiac event or procedure.

About Our Cardiac Rehab Phases

Our comprehensive heart rehabilitation program has three phases:

  • Phase I: Assessment of your health and introduction to the Phase II outpatient cardiac rehab program, done while you are in the hospital recovering from your heart condition.
  • Phase II: 12-week program providing education and support to help you make lifestyle changes that will prevent further heart damage and improve your overall health. This phase includes supervised exercise three days per week and education on healthy eating, stress management and other ways to modify behaviors and improve health.
  • Phase III: Three-month maintenance program that includes independent exercise with continued monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate and other markers of health.

  • Better Breathers: Support group for people with lung disease and/or congestive heart failure and their families. It meets the second Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Smoke Stoppers: 21-day smoking cessation program offered twice a year. This program teaches behavior changes that help people conquer nicotine addiction.
