The labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) at Methodist Charlton feel inviting and comfortable and feature:

Medical equipment is tucked away but easy to access, so doctors and nurses have everything they need to see you and your baby safely through labor, childbirth, and recovery in a single, homelike setting.

Shortly after delivery, we’ll take your infant to the nursery for admission and a medical checkup. Except for this exam and any other needed medical care, your infant will be at your bedside throughout your stay. The specialized team of mother-baby care nurses at Methodist Charlton will check in to answer questions, provide support, and make sure you’re both doing well.

Breastfeeding Educators

Breastfeeding educators are also available to answer breastfeeding questions and offer assistance during your stay. The Methodist Charlton breastfeeding help line offers continued support after you go home. A nurse will also check in with you by phone after you leave the hospital to help with concerns or questions that come up at home.

Quiet Time

Quiet time is offered each day from 1 to 3 p.m. and 1 to 3 a.m., as well as the first 30 minutes following birth. Quiet time is intended to:

  • Offer an extended period of rest
  • Decrease postpartum sleep deprivation
  • Facilitate bonding between mom and baby and dad and baby
  • Allow moms to breastfeed without interruption
  • Help families transition from hospital schedule to home schedule
