Methodist Charlton Medical Center Intensive Care Unit
New Intensive Care Unit Open
Renovated facility offers advanced care for critical patients and creature comforts for loved ones.
The renovated intensive care unit (ICU) at Methodist Charlton Medical Center provides exceptional care for the most medically fragile patients, serving a critical need in the Best Southwest region.
Patients are cared for by a dedicated staff of specially trained healthcare providers who initiate lifesaving measures when needed. Additional critical care nurses help to ensure that patients receive the vigilant care and attention they need. Advanced equipment includes:
- Six dialysis machines — the Prismaflex® System by Gambro — for extremely critical patients suffering kidney disease
- Three hypothermia machines — the Arctic Sun® 5000 Temperature Management System by Medivance, Inc. — for induced hypothermia in heart attack patients to reduce oxygen demand and save neurological function on heart attack patients.
The larger 28,250-square-foot ICU now has eight more rooms for a total of 32. Designed with the care and comfort of patients and their loved ones in mind, the roomier space features beautiful views of the Dallas skyline and areas of the southern sector, soothing colors, and natural lighting to promote healing. While keeping watch over their loved one, visitors can
- Watch a 40-inch flat-screen television with separate controls and speakers
- Relax or sleep on a comfortable couch
- Use personal tray tables for meals or work
- Charge their cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices at a station built into the wall of every room.
