The use of robot-assisted surgical techniques can help surgeons operate with greater precision and control. When working on general surgeries, especially those dealing with delicate organs, this can be essential and can make more difficult surgeries much simpler and more doable. Robotic-assisted surgery can often have many patient benefits including smaller incisions, less muscle pain, and short healing time. This translates to a quicker return to work and life for our patients.

General Surgeries We Provide

Our physicians offer several different general surgeries, including hernia repair, appendix removal, and gallbladder operations. If you or someone you love needs to have a medical procedure performed, make sure you visit a medical center you can trust. Since 1927, our facility has served as a pillar in the North Texas community, providing compassionate medical care and world-class healthcare education.

Gallbladder

When medicine and dietary changes do not help with symptoms related to the gallbladder, including gallstones, surgery may be recommended. Like the appendix, the gallbladder is an organ you can live without, so removing the gallbladder can be an effective way to control or eliminate severe symptoms.

In a robot-assisted surgery, a surgeon may be able to perform a single-site gallbladder surgery which often leaves the patient with one small scar and a less painful recover.

Hernias

Hernias may occur when an organ or other tissue finds its way through a weakened area in the abdominal wall or groin. Inguinal and incisional hernias can affect the intestines or the colon. Hernias can be extremely painful but can be fixed with surgery. Robotic surgery can help with hernia surgeries greatly with the potential for a quicker return to life activities and less pain for our patients.

Appendix

If an individual has appendicitis, an inflammatory condition of the appendix, an emergency appendectomy will likely be required. Even though appendectomies, the surgical removal of the appendix, are somewhat common, they can still be risky and should only be performed by experienced, skilled physicians.
