Clinical Research

Clinical Research at The Liver Institute at Methodist Dallas

An active program in clinical research continues to grow in both local and national recognition and enhances patient care at The Liver Institute.

The Liver Institute at Methodist Dallas is currently involved in several research projects regarding treatments for patients with chronic hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and other liver diseases.

In August 2011, The Liver Institute announced it is involved in several clinical trials using a newer generation of drugs for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C. The trials will focus on a second generation of direct-acting antiviral drugs for hepatitis C that are very potent and may shorten the duration of therapy in a number of patients. These antiviral drugs offer very promising hope for eradication of hepatitis C for patients who have experienced and failed treatment in the past.
